PUSHING PAST THE FEAR… OR NOT?!?!!
The other day I hit the hyrdoslides at Parakai, now you would think being an Adventure Girls that I’d be all over that like white on rice… ummmm NO WAY!
Me and confined spaces are not a great combination at all…. my heart starts to race at the thought of being trapped inside with nowhere to go or move *shudder*
So often we get told, and Im fully going to put my hand up on this and say I deffo say it, “FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY”
Here’s a big mofo distinction for anyone who thinks this means jumping in balls and all.
Feeling the fear and doing it doesn’t mean you need to take a massive ginormous leap into the unknown of whats on the otherside, sometimes is a lean into the uncomfortableness enough to stretch it out a little more.
Hittin up the hydro slide wasn’t about ‘conquering a fear’ and miraculously never feeling that ever again. It was about pushing on the boundary of comfortable/uncomfortable to stretch it out more so that I can expand more fully.
Like in biz, when you go to start that new biz that you have always wanted to, it’s not always about ‘quitting your day job and go all in’ (unless you have the financial back to do so, then it’s like donkey kong).
Sometimes is about taking those baby steps to get the momentum to then take some bigger leaps along the way.
YES you still will need to feel the fear and do it anyway, but it doesnt have to be a balls and all experience.
What I’ve noticed the most along this entrepreneurial journey is that the more consistently you show up in the realness of you, even if it feels a little scary…. thats were the growth happens.
I also know that if you are not testing out your ‘fears’ how do you really know whats on the other side, how do you know you are already fully expressing all of who you are, how do you know what you are capable of, how do you know it’s not you can create that change you wanna see in the world, how do you know it can’t be true for you, how do you know you will or won’t succeed.
Allow yourself to lean into the fear, sometimes you’ll push through it, smash the socks off it and even blow it and your mind…
And sometimes you will gently explore it, give it a little nudge here and there and sometimes step through with ease.
Theres more than one way to skin a cat, and there is more than one way to play, dance and move through (if thats what you want) your fears.
Im looking for 3 super rad women to work with starting January who wanna create a biz in the space of outdoor, adventure, travel and exploring, and build it along side their current work so they can ultimately move from employed to self employed doing the stuff that freaking rocks.
If that you… then rad!
Check out the The Sisterhood, and lets do this.
Oh.. and yes, the hydroslide was fun the 2 times I did! Am I cured of not enjoying small spaces, not completely, but it made it easier when we were on Rangitoto the other day and we explored the lava caves and they got a little tight in a few spots.
